Hampshire County Council is seeking an Assistant Team Manager for the South-East Intensive Worker Team to help children remain safe at home across Havant, Fareham and Gosport. Responsibilities

  • Deputise for the Team Manager and attend case management and multi-agency meetings as required.
  • Lead the team by prioritising cases, assigning and supervising caseloads for two districts.
  • Develop and guide team members through quality assurance, training needs, and staff development.
  • Caseload management with practical, strengths-based interventions for children and families.
  • Review performance and present management reports, outputs and service trends.
  • Identify and promote innovative ways of working to drive continuous service improvement.

Job description

As anAssistant Team Managerfor the South-East Intensive Worker Team, you'll play a key role in ensuring children can remain safely at home by leading high‑quality, intensive support and specialist interventions for families acrossHavant, Fareham and Gosport. Working closely with the Team Manager, you'll support the day-to‑day operations of a multidisciplinary team, including Intensive and Specialist Workers, to deliver effective, timely interventions for children and families with complex needs.
Your experience and professional judgment will be key in enabling the team to support families experiencing significant challenges, including those affected by trauma, instability and complex risk factors requiring intensive, coordinated support. Holding a small, complex caseload, you’ll contribute to driving a strengths‑based approach where families can build resilience, strengthen relationships and create positive, lasting change. Your passion to enhance service delivery and drive improvements will make a meaningful difference to the lives of children, young people and their families.

What you’ll do:
  • Deputise for the Team Manager,taking responsibility for the management of the team and attending case management and multi‑agency practice development meetings on both a planned and ad‑hoc basis.
  • Support the leadership of the Team,prioritising and screening cases, assigning and supervising the team’s caseloads for effective service delivery, and line managing Intensive Workers across two districts.
  • Develop and guide team members,conducting quality assurance, identifying training needs, and inspiring staff to deliver a responsive, solutions‑focused service.
  • Caseload management,holding a small, complex caseload to provide practical, strengths‑based interventions to children and families.
  • Review and assess performance,collating and presenting management reports, including performance data, outputs and service trends.
  • Contribute to service improvement,identifying and promoting innovative new ways of working to drive continuous development.
