Role Responsibilities
- To support the team in managing their caseloads, which will involve some co‑working of complex cases
- Quality control of written reports/assessments/minutes including court reports, produced within the team
- Assist in the writing of reports for less experienced staff and support at meetings and within the court arena
- Chair and attend meetings in line with statutory duties
- Plan and conduct group supervision sessions within the team
- Represent the Team Manager in strategy meetings
- Act as the first point of reference for case work issues where consultation is needed
- Recommend to the Team Manager any financial payments required for families or young people
- Contribute to the supervision of individual team members, particularly less experienced SW/OT staff
- Assign tasks to team members (usually under guidance from the Team Manager)
- Ensure that all casework is managed within appropriate codes of practice, statutory/departmental guidelines
- Maintain awareness of corporate and departmental equalities, health and safety, sustainability and other relevant policies and procedures, applying them in day‑to‑day job requirements and in planning the future direction of the service
- Ensure that all Hampshire County Council child protection policies are adhered to and concerns are raised in accordance with these policies
- Deputise for the Team Manager in their absence
- Define child protection issues within corporate procedures
- Prioritise urgency of cases, matching tasks to skills and resources
- Keep all recordings complete to corporate protocols
- Identify areas for performance development of those supervised
- Ensure that the team is briefed and cases are reviewed daily
- Be aware of the team budget, monitoring and control systems and ensure these are complied with at all times
- Make recommendations to the Team Manager for any financial payments required by families or young people
- Ensure best professional practice and standards in relation to assessment, child protection investigation, key working, planning and care management for looked‑after children and other children in need, through supervision and agreed quality‑assurance processes within the team
