Job summary

A local recruitment agency is seeking an Assistant Support Worker for a role focused on supporting vulnerable female clients in a Sheffield hostel. The position involves engaging with residents, assisting in maintaining a supportive environment, and requires strong communication skills. Ideal candidates will have experience in mental health or homelessness sectors, with an NVQ preferred. This role is part-time, primarily on weekends.

ASSISTANT SUPPORT WORKER (16hr Contract) - FEMALE SERVICE (ONLY FEMALE WORKERS)

  • Assist with the delvery of a high-quality Programme of support which promotes client choice and Control.
  • To address Client support needs, enable them to achieve positive life changes and ultimately empower them to lead more sustainable lifestyles

Project Information

Single Homeless Females aged 18+

11 Bed Hostel- 11 women in currently since Jan 2025

Complex Needs - Don’t take high risk clients.
  • Women may be victims of Human Trafficking
  • Women live in the project for up to 6 months
  • Females can be chaotic and present with a range of Mental Health needs and addictions
Your role :
  • To work mainly weekends on a 16hr contact + additional overtime
  • Engaging with The residents and creating a trusted relationship
  • Basic cleaning may be required
  • May be required to wash and change bedding in rooms
  • Liase with manager and Senior support worker (s)
  • CCTV monitorring required
  • Undertake client welfare checks as directed
  • Provide front of house support and reception duties, as well as administrative support including day to day office duties; including recording income to the service on the system.
  • Assist the support team with sourcing and facilitating planned move on options for clients where appropriate; in preparing case reports and statistical records
  • Assisting in the completion of forms and applying for appropriate benefits
  • Support and develop volunteers as appropriate
  • Ensure good communication with colleagues so all those working with the clients have infomation to assist with achieving the clients goals.
SKILLS / EXPERIENCE NEEDED FOR THE ROLE -
  • Previous experience of working succesfully in a fast-paced environment and / or delivering excellent customer service
  • Previous experience of working in supported housing / Homelessness / mental health sector / substance misuse sector
  • The ability to understand and succesfully implement prcesses and procedures related to your area of work
  • Great verbal and writen communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Good IT sills with previous experience using Microsoft office
PREFERRED -
  • Level 2 NVQ or equivalent in a related field
  • Knowledge of the benefits system
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and health&safety

The role of an Assistant support worker is key to achieving succesful outcomes for vulnerable clients. The role requires motivated staff to work as part of the team to provide support in a trauma sensitive and psychological informed manner
