Hull City Council is seeking an Assistant Streetcare Operative to work in area-based teams, improving the cleanliness and environmental standards of the city. You will contribute to achieving community aspirations through hands-on turf and landscape duties.

You will cut grass, perform maintenance in landscaped areas, report faults, assist in environmental enforcement, grit in icy conditions, respond to public inquiries, sweep, litter-pick and remove graffiti as part of keeping the city clean and

Qualifications

  • Experience in grounds maintenance or street cleaning desirable.
  • Ability to operate pedestrian/handheld equipment.
  • Awareness of health and safety policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake grass cutting using pedestrian and handheld machinery to meet standards.
  • Undertake general maintenance works in landscaped areas to assist Environmental Operative.
  • Report damage to street furniture and blocked gullies for corrective action.
  • Assist with enforcement of environmental nuisance by gathering evidence for prosecution.
  • Carry out hand gritting during ice and snow to maintain safe access.
  • Respond to customer enquiries and escalate if needed.
  • Sweep and delitter allocated areas to meet environmental standards.
  • Remove weed growth, litter, graffiti, needles, and animal feces where required.

To undertake manual sweeping, pedestrian controlled machine sweeping and de-littering of allocated areas to ensure the environmental aspects of the city meet the aspirations of the communities.8. To carry out other environmental operation such as emptying of litter bins, removal of fly-posting and graffiti, removal of weed growth in hard surfaces, disposal of needles and animal faeces to achieve a clean environment.9.
