Job description
Role Overview

Your input will help support patients to regain communication skills or, where this is not possible, to learn alternative ways of communicating, such as gesture or drawing. You will also assist with administrative tasks, including the creation of therapy resources, data entry and the administration of therapy groups.

Responsibilities
  • Perform early assessments and deliver therapy to patients under the direction of the Speech and Language team.
  • Help patients who have lost the ability to understand or use spoken and/or written language, and those with swallowing difficulties.
  • Assist with admin tasks: preparing resources, inputting data, and organising therapy groups.
  • Work collaboratively with therapists, nurses, doctors, patients, carers and families as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Desirable but not essential: prior experience as a Health Care Assistant, Clinical Support Worker, Therapy Assistant or volunteer in a hospital or healthcare environment.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Engaging, creative outlook for delivering care.
  • Flexible, empathetic, conscientious and quick‑learning individual.
Eligibility

This role is currently only being advertised to staff members who are currently working within the Kent and Medway ICB.
