About us

We are Churchill Retirement Living, the fastest growing company in the UK retirement house building sector, and we’re looking for people like you.

We’re a family‑owned business and we’re going places. We’re proud of what we do, and the people we work with. We have ambitious growth plans for the future, now employing over 700 people and growing all the time.

We pride ourselves on building beautiful, quality, purpose‑built one and two bedroom apartments in desirable locations across the UK for those looking for an independent lifestyle in later life. Developments are designed to take away all the hassle and fears that can be experienced by older people and provide security, peace of mind and independence.

We’ve won a host of awards; most recently we have been recognised by The Sunday Times as the 3rd Best Company to Work for in the UK and became the first ever retirement living specialist to be crowned overall ‘Housebuilder of the Year’ by the WhatHouse? Awards 2016.

About the role

We’re looking for an Assistant Site Manager for our South East region to help oversee our development in Oxted, Kent.

Using specified drawings and instructions, you’ll support the Site Manager with the entire construction cycle to ensure all deadlines are met and the development is built to Company and NHBC standards.

Based on site and reporting to the Site Manager, you’ll assist in managing all aspects of the building site, including health and safety issues, trades and material coordination, site presentation and cost control.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring the continued success of Churchill Retirement Living’s desirable developments.

Hours of work are between 7.30am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday.

The Assistant Site Manager is subject to call‑out in the absence of the Site Manager, however this is infrequent. Also, once the development is completed, you will be moved to another site within the region.

About you

You will have relevant previous site experience gained building Residential Apartments and New Homes. You will also be a qualified First Aider at Work and may have progressed from a trade background.

You will hold a CSCS Card and be qualified to NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Site Management, preferably on the NHBC Site Manager Accreditation programme.

You’ll be assertive and calm under pressure to meet numerous construction deadlines, whilst liaising with a wide range of external suppliers, specialists and in‑house teams to achieve critical objectives, without compromising quality standards in any way. To achieve maximum co‑operation, the ability to influence is key.

You will also hold a valid UK drivers Licence in the event another site requires assistance.

How you’ll be rewarded
  • Competitive salary plus site bonus scheme
  • Company car or cash for car allowance
  • Annual holiday entitlement of 24 days + Bank Holidays
  • Day off on your birthday
  • Group Personal Pension Plan
  • Life Assurance

  • John Lewis vouchers – £200 to all expectant parents
  • Ongoing investment into your personal development
