Job description

Job Title: Assistant Simulator Technician

Location: RAF Marham - Onsite

Salary: £29563

What you’ll be doing:
  • To ensure the delivery of high-class, first-rate training to the Ministry of Defence’s elite FastJet pilots
  • Preparing Pilot Training Devices (PTD) for customer use and assisting with mission specific preparations
  • Installing components and assemblies into chassis, racks, cabinets, workstations, and customer facilities
  • Supporting and sustaining of all Information Systems and Information Technologies related to PTD (management, trouble‑shooting, repairing, preventative maintenance and upgrading software and hardware)
  • Software configuration of replacement hardware, assisting with the installation and check‑out of modifications and loading periodic security patches
  • Adherence to all programme mandated security processes
  • Supporting the DMRT, you will be responsible for carrying out maintenance activities in deployed locations
Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Educational background within an ICT subject at either GCSE, A-Level, BTEC level (or similar)
  • The ability to communicate with key stakeholders across different levels and businesses
  • The ability to work within a close team under high pressure and to tight timescales

Desirable:

  • Any experience working with Windows and/or Unix/Linux would be highly desirable
  • Experience within organisations such as Cadets, Uniform Service course, Duke of Edinburgh and so on
  • Experience or training in Aircraft Avionics Maintenance

The F35 Lightening Programme team:

As an Assistant Simulator Technician, you will be based at our purpose built Integrated Training Centre (ITC) carrying out designated maintenance and support activities to the RAF. You will have the opportunity to work closely with Fast Jet pilots and Instructors as well as working closely with other BAE functions and their industry partners.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work along‑side growing technology in a very dynamic and varied role. This role will also give you the unique opportunity to support Lightning II squadrons on deployed operations both ashore and on the Queen Elizabeth Class Carriers.

This is an entry level role that is supported by a defined development plan which provides the opportunity to progress to full Simulator Technician based on measured skills and experience together with self study and the attainment of mandated qualifications.
