The Role

We are seeking a committed and organised Assistant Service Manager (Children’s) to join our Children’s Services team on a 9-month maternity cover contract, beginning January 2025. There is the possibility of extension depending on organisational needs.

In this role, you will support the Service Manager with the day-to-day running of Children’s Services, ensuring high-quality and person-centred delivery. You will lead on staff rotas, support staff development, maintain service records, and build strong relationships with families and professionals. This is a rewarding position where you can make a real difference to the lives of children with learning disabilities and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting the management and coordination of Children’s Services
  • Leading on rota planning and staffing cover
  • Ensuring services meet regulatory, legislative, and organisational standards
  • Line managing and developing staff
  • Maintaining accurate records and supporting audits
  • Communicating with parents, carers, and external professionals
  • Contributing to risk management and safeguarding procedures
  • Participating in the on-call rota
  • Assisting with service planning, monitoring, and evaluation
What We’re Looking For
Essential
  • Experience working in a similar role

  • Strong organisational and planning skills

  • Experience using CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and rota management tools

  • Leadership or management qualification (or willingness to work towards one)
  • Experience in service management
