Assistant SENCO – Tunbridge Wells

Contract: Part-time, Permanent (32.5 hours)
Start date: ASAP
Salary: Kent Scale F – FTE £30,404 – Actual £23,488.39 (39 weeks)

A secondary school in Tunbridge Wells is seeking a part-time Assistant SENCO to support the SENCO in delivering high-quality SEND provision. You will help implement strategies to meet a range of needs, promote inclusivity and ensure every student receives the support they need.

Purpose of the Role
  • Manage the day-to-day running of the Hub and Inclusion rooms
  • Support SENCO, teaching staff and LSAs to raise achievement of SEND students
  • Support students’ inclusion, independence and wellbeing
  • Contribute to safeguarding and student welfare
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Data
  • Assist with planning and preparing interventions
  • Collate and analyse SEND progress data in core subjects
  • Prepare resources and plans for SEND interventions
  • Support planning for students not following the full curriculum
SEND Operations
  • Support the daily operation of the SEND team
  • Share line management of LSAs and support timetabling
  • Maintain and update SEND register under SENCO direction
  • Summarise EHCPs and ensure staff are informed of changes
  • Assist with Access Arrangements administration (training provided)
  • Assist with screening and referral processes
Transition & Records
  • Support SEND transition arrangements and student observationsMaintain SEND and transition records
  • Create and review risk assessments and intervention evidence
Interventions
  • Monitor and evaluate intervention data and impact
  • Modify resources for SEND students
  • Support assessment and progress tracking
Staff Support & Development
  • Help recruit, induct and supervise LSAs
  • Mentor LSAs and deliver training alongside SENCO
  • Help develop behaviour support plans
Pastoral & Behaviour
  • Maintain behaviour and safeguarding standards in the Hub
  • Promote wellbeing and pastoral support
  • Uphold school policies on behaviour, inclusion and safeguarding
Other Duties
  • Attend relevant meetings and training
  • Support duties as required by SENCO/SLT/Headteacher
  • Use IT systems effectively to fulfil responsibilities
