Lady Eleanor Holles School is seeking an enthusiastic rowing coach for a fixed-term maternity cover. The role is part-time (0.53 FTE) 20 hours per week, with shifts including weekends and some evenings, starting November 2026 for 12 months. You will join the Rowing Department at LEH, based on the Molesey stretch of the Thames.

You will support the lead coaches for the J16 and Senior squads, contributing to a programme with high aspirations and opportunities for learning and development.

Job Description

An amazing opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated rowing coach to join the Rowing Department at LEH. LEHBC is one of the top girls rowing schools in the country, with medals won at every age group this year at National Schools. This is an exciting moment to join the programme. Our facilities on the Molesey stretch of the Thames are outstanding with a superb boathouse and impressive fleet of boats.

Building on recent successes and ambitious plans for the future, the successful candidate will work alongside an experienced coaching team, offering excellent opportunities for learning, development and contribution to a programme with high aspirations. They will also be fully engaged in all levels of rowing at LEH, with the emphasis on supporting the lead coaches for the J16 and Senior squads.

The working hours are 20 per week, across a 7-day working pattern (including evenings, there may also be a requirement to work additional hours to the stated core hours). The postholder must be available to work at the weekend (in particular Saturday mornings) to coach and accompany students to sporting fixtures. This is a fixed term role for 1 year to cover a period of maternity leave from November 2026.

All staff working in the School will have some contact with children and will therefore be in regulated activity. Staff with teaching duties will be responsible for the pupils that they teach and may also have additional specific pastoral or other responsibilities for other pupils they do not teach. In addition, all staff will regularly interact with pupils who may seek assistance or otherwise interact with them whilst moving around the School. In all cases, the post holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of the pupils is to adhere to and ensure compliance with the School’s safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
