Assistant Quantity Surveyor (Joinery/Fit Out)

GEDON Executive is seeking a motivated Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a specialist Joinery and Fit Out Contractor in London, UK. This is an outstanding entry-level opportunity for a candidate with foundational experience or a recent graduate ready to immerse themselves in the fast-paced, commercially dynamic world of high-end commercial fit-out.

Based in London, you will provide crucial commercial and contractual support, working closely with Senior Quantity Surveyors on high-quality internal joinery and fit-out packages. This role offers hands‑on experience and a clear pathway for professional development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Measurement & Take‑Off: Assist in conducting accurate quantity take-offs from design drawings and specifications, specifically for joinery, carpentry, and fit‑out elements.
  • Procurement Support: Help prepare subcontractor and supplier tender enquiries, manage quote comparisons, and assist in drafting sub‑contract orders.
  • Financial Administration: Assist in preparing monthly applications for payment, valuations, and supporting documentation for Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).
  • Cost Control: Monitor and track project costs, material wastage, and labour expenditure against the budget.
  • Variation Support: Assist in measuring and compiling cost information for variations and change orders.
  • Documentation: Maintain and archive accurate commercial records, including contracts, purchase orders, and variation logs.
What You'll Bring
  • Qualifications: A relevant degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or Construction Management.
  • Experience: Previous experience, such as an , placement, or up to one year of commercial experience, preferably within the fit‑out, residential, or specialist sub‑contracting sectors, is highly desirable.
  • Numerical Skills: Strong analytical and numerical abilities with excellent attention to detail.
  • Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills and a strong willingness to learn quickly.
  • IT Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
