Job summary

A leading Earthworks and Ground Improvement contractor in Scotland is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor / Estimator. You will support the commercial and estimating functions by preparing estimates, carrying out quantity surveying duties, and assisting with procurement activities. Qualifications

  • A relevant qualification or working towards one (HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying or similar).
  • Strong IT and numerical skills.
  • The ability to work well as part of a small, supportive team.
  • A full UK driving licence.

Following continued growth, we are expanding our commercial team and now have an opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join us. This is a great chance to be part of a growing business where your work will make a genuine impact.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, you will play a key role in supporting the commercial and estimating functions of the business. You will gain hands‑on experience across a variety of sectors, working closely with our operational and management teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing estimates and completing tenders, including quality submission documents
  • Carrying out quantity surveying duties such as interim valuations, final account preparation, and cash flow forecasts
  • Supporting procurement activities – obtaining tenders for works and materials for both live projects and new bids

This is a varied role that offers exposure to all aspects of commercial management within a busy contracting environment.

About You

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, organised, and eager to learn. You should enjoy working with numbers, have a keen eye for detail, and be comfortable communicating with colleagues, clients, and suppliers.

You will also need:
