Job summary

Building Careers UK is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor with a focus on construction claims in Warrington. This role offers hands-on mentorship and exposure to EOT, disruption and loss & expense claims, within a growing claims team on major residential projects.

You will work under a Senior Claims QS, developing your knowledge of contractual claims while strengthening your commercial and cost-control skills for a specialist claims career.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor.
• Experience on construction or residential projects.
• Knowledge of valuations, variations, subcontract accounts and cost control.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ambition to progress towards a Claims QS position.
• Ability to analyse project information and identify relevant evidence.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Support the Senior Claims QS with the preparation of contractual claims.
• Assist with Extension of Time (EOT) submissions.
• Supporting disruption and loss & expense claims.
• Reviewing project records, programmes, valuations and commercial information.
• Assisting with analysing project costs and identifying potential entitlement.
• Gathering supporting information and evidence for claims.
• Assisting with the preparation of detailed claim submissions.
• Reviewing contracts and contractual obligations.
• Working closely with project and commercial teams to obtain relevant information.
• Supporting negotiations with clients, contractors and other stakeholders.
• Maintaining accurate commercial and claims documentation.
• Developing knowledge of contractual mechanisms and claims procedures.
• Supporting the wider commercial team with project-related commercial matters.
• Working towards taking greater responsibility for claims as experience develops.
