Job summary

Cumming Group UK & Europe is seeking an Assistant Cost Manager to support delivery on residential, hotel and real estate projects. The role focuses on budget estimates, cost planning and cost reporting, with emphasis on quality and timely outputs.

You will work within a collaborative team, liaising with stakeholders, and contributing to process improvements and growth across our real estate consultancy practice.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in construction, cost management, engineering or quantity surveying, or equivalent (RICS accredited).
  • Working towards MRICS or equivalent qualification welcomed.
  • Proven leadership experience and ability to mentor teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for day-to-day delivery of small to medium projects and assist larger programmes.
  • Support knowledge capture, sharing and innovation; help implement strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare budget estimates, cost plans and client reports.
  • Support risk and value management.
  • Contract administration including valuations, forecasts, cost reports and project meetings.
  • Prepare bills of quantities, schedules of rates or other cost evaluation methods.
  • Deliver work outputs accurately and on time at high quality.
  • Lead and manage project teams and supply chain under guidance.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety and quality assurance policies.
  • Develop client relationships and contribute to business growth.

We are seeking an Assistant Cost Manager who has experience in working within Residential, Hotel, and Real estate projects. Our project pipeline in this area continues to grow and we are looking for ambitious and enquiring minds to join us and be part of our exciting journey of growth and delivery excellence.

As well as those who have direct evidence of skills and involvement on these types of projects as a Cost Manager, we would be interested in talking to those from a Real Estate and Consultancy backgrounds and are seeking a new challenge

Essential Duties & Responsibility
  • Provide support for day-to-day delivery responsibility for small to medium projects, support larger projects/programmes of work and demonstrate the ability to take on tasks with minimal supervision
  • Support knowledge capture, sharing and innovation. Support the implementation of strategic initiatives at service and sector level
  • Prepare budget estimates, cost plans and client reports
  • Support risk and value management
  • Contract administration including preparation of valuations, forecasts, cost reports and attendance at project meetings
  • Preparation of bills of quantities, schedules of rates, or other methods of work evaluation
  • Deliver all work outputs in an accurate and timely manner to a high standard of quality
  • Support the delivery of work through proactive involvement where appropriate and through performance management of personnel to ensure work is completed in a timely manner to a high-quality standard
  • Undertake service delivery is in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Practice, particularly Health and Safety and Quality Assurance
  • Provide services in compliance with the client's corporate governance procedures where applicable
  • Achieve all objectives as required by the annual performance review process
  • Work to deadlines set by the Project Team Leader
  • Filing of project correspondence in accordance with requirements
  • Support evaluation of tenders, contractor selection and contract documentation
  • Develop our business; networking and developing client relationships
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuing professional development and continuous improvement
Knowledge & Skills Required

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Ideally degree qualified: construction, cost management, engineering, quantity surveying or other RICS accredited degree
  • Working towards MRICS / other equivalent qualification or experience
  • Developed understanding of leadership techniques and ideally some formal leadership training.
  • 3+ years’ experience.
  • Experience in the Real Estate sector is desirable
  • Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters
  • Experience of industry standard forms of contract, typically JCT and NEC
  • Basic pre and post contract technical cost management skills
  • Good core technical skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Good IT skills for the role including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point
  • Developing interpersonal skills with both client and Staff
