Job summary

The Highfield Company in Manchester is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team on live projects in the North West. This is an early-career role ideal for someone looking to develop within a specialist structural steel environment, working alongside experienced QS and estimating teams.

You will support cost tracking, valuations and reporting, assist with measuring variations and applications for payment, and help prepare subcontractor packages while gaining exposure to

Qualifications

• Some experience in a commercial, QS or estimating support role (construction or steel sector preferred, but not essential).
• Studying towards, or interested in studying towards, a QS-related qualification (degree, HNC/HND or equivalent).
• Strong numeracy and attention to detail.
• Good communication skills, comfortable liaising with site and supplier contacts.
• Confident with Excel and general IT systems.
• Organised, proactive, and keen to learn.

Responsibilities

• Track project costs against budget and flag variances.
• Assist with the preparation of final accounts.

Our client is a well-established structural steel fabricator, known for exceptional and iconic projects across the UK. They're looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team and build a career in structural steel.
