Assistant Quantity Surveyor – Maidstone, Kent | £30,000 - £40,000 + Package | Main Contractor | New Build Projects | Career Progression

Hill McGlynn are working closely with a well-established regional main contractor to recruit an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in Maidstone. With a strong pipeline of secured work across education, healthcare, residential and commercial new build projects, this is a great opportunity for an AQS looking to develop their career in a structured, supportive environment.

The Role

You'll work alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers on multiple live and pre-construction schemes, gaining hands-on exposure to all stages of the commercial process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assisting in the preparation of budgets, cost plans and tender submissions
  • Helping to procure and manage subcontractor packages
  • Supporting the valuation and variation process
  • Maintaining accurate project cost records and reports
  • Attending site meetings and liaising with site teams
  • Ensuring commercial processes and procedures are followed
Ideal Candidate
  • 1-3 years' experience in a Quantity Surveying or commercial construction role
  • Experience with a Tier 1 or reputable regional main contractor preferred
  • Strong understanding of construction processes and contracts (e.g. JCT)
  • Relevant degree or working towards qualification (e.g. Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management)
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in a fast-paced construction environment
