Job description
Overview

Our client is a highly regarded, privately owned main contractor delivering prestigious projects across London and the South of England. With expertise in prime residential and heritage works, their portfolio includes luxurious country homes, sensitive refurbishments, and conservation-led schemes.

They are now seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their team on a £7m heritage refurbishment near Lewes. The project involves the conversion of historic farm buildings and outbuildings into high quality, Prime Residential residential homes and some commercial space within the estate. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious AQS to learn directly from a highly experienced Senior QS and progress towards becoming a Project QS.

The Role

As Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will play a vital supporting role while being encouraged to take on greater responsibility as your skills develop. Working alongside a Senior QS, you will gain exposure to every stage of the project lifecycle.

  • Assist with procurement and subcontractor management.
  • Take an active role in cost reporting and valuations.
  • Support the monitoring of project costs, variations, and cash flow.
  • Work closely with the Senior QS, with clear opportunities to take on more responsibility over time.
  • Engage with the project team and stakeholders on commercial matters.
What We're Looking For

This is a progressive role for someone eager to develop their career. You\'ll need:

  • Experience as an AQS or Graduate QS with a main contractor (Prime Residential specialist or large reputable contractor preferred).
  • Ideally some refurbishment, heritage, or prime residential experience.
  • Ambition and the desire to step up into greater responsibility.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
What\'s On Offer
  • Competitive salary package tailored to your experience.
  • Private healthcare and full benefits.
  • Ongoing training and career development towards Quantity Surveyor level.
  • The opportunity to work on a landmark £7m heritage refurbishment project and some of The South East\'s grandest country homes.

This is an ideal next step for an Assistant QS looking to accelerate their career with a well-respected contractor and gain structured development under the guidance of a supportive Senior QS
