• Previous experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Trainee QS, or similar role.
• Experience within retail fit-out or general construction preferred, but not essential.

The Role

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will work alongside an experienced team of Quantity Surveyors, supporting a range of projects at any one time. You'll play a key role in commercial management, measurement, cost control, and procurement across multiple retail fit‑out schemes, including a major framework agreement with one of their core retail clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Take measurements and produce estimates.
• Prepare tender and bid documents, including bills of quantities.
• Assess and value variations during project delivery.
• Obtain competitive sub‑contractor quotations.
• Assist with purchasing materials and managing supply chain relationships.
• Visit sites to monitor progress and compare against project plans.
• Support site preparation activities where required.
• Identify and report on areas of material and labour cost efficiencies.
• Provide input on environmental impact, waste reduction, and sustainable practices.
• Represent the company professionally at all times.
• Undertake any additional duties as required by the commercial team.

About You

• Ideally qualified to HND or degree level in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
• Previous experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Trainee QS, or similar role.
• Experience within retail fit‑out or general construction preferred, but not essential.
• Strong numerical, analytical, and communication skills.
• Good knowledge of construction methods and contract procedures.
• Proficient in MS Office and relevant QS software.
• Positive attitude with a desire to learn and progress within the business.
