Job summary

Galliford Try is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the Asset Intelligence team at Stansted. You will support senior QS in delivering commercial duties, with a focus on project delivery and site-based measurements.

The role involves cost control, procurement, reporting, and governance, with opportunities to contribute to CVRs, cash flow and cash management, while building stakeholder relationships across the project teams.

Qualifications

  • Degree, HNC/HND or working towards a qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
  • Basic understanding of construction, cost control, measurement, procurement and commercial reporting principles.
  • Awareness of standard forms of contract, with NEC experience or awareness preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the commercial management of Asset Intelligence projects, working closely with Quantity Surveyors and project teams.
  • Monitor project progress, risks, changes and commercial impacts with cross-functional teams.
  • Attend site regularly to support measurements, progress reviews and communication with site personnel.
  • Assist with cash flow forecasting, client applications, budget monitoring and financial reporting activities.
  • Support the management of cash, WIP and debt to maximise cash flow and maintain project financial performance.
  • Review subcontractor applications and assist with administration of subcontract documents and payment processes.
  • Contribute to cost reporting, CVRs, forecasting and month-end commercial governance.
  • Support tendering and procurement activities, including tender analysis and recommendations.
  • Assist in managing contractual notices, early warnings, compensation events and change control processes.

An opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the team at Galliford Try within our Asset Intelligence business unit

Job Description

You will support the Quantity Surveyor and Senior Quantity Surveyor in delivering commercial duties across the Asset Intelligence business, with a particular focus on project delivery at Stansted. The role will support cost control, contract administration, procurement, reporting and commercial governance, while ensuring adherence to Galliford Try and Asset Intelligence processes, principles and guidelines in all aspects of work.

What you will be doing:
  • Support the commercial management of Asset Intelligence projects, working closely with Quantity Surveyors and project teams.
  • Monitor project progress, risks, changes and commercial impacts through collaboration with operational, delivery and design teams.
  • Attend site regularly to support measurements, progress reviews, record-keeping and communication with site personnel.
  • Assist with cash flow forecasting, client applications, budget monitoring and financial reporting activities.
  • Support the management of cash, WIP and debt to maximise cash flow and maintain project financial performance.
  • Review subcontractor applications and assist with the administration of subcontract documents, records and payment processes.

  • Support tendering and procurement activities, including tender analysis, comparisons and recommendation preparation.
  • Assist in managing contractual notices, early warnings, compensation events and change control processes.
  • Maintain accurate commercial records, build strong stakeholder relationships and support sustainability and continuous improvement initiatives.
About you:
  • Experience, placement experience or a strong interest in quantity surveying, commercial management, construction or infrastructure.
  • Degree, HNC/HND or working towards a qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
  • Basic understanding of construction, cost control, measurement, procurement and commercial reporting principles.
  • Awareness of standard forms of contract, with NEC experience or awareness preferred.
  • Competent in Microsoft Excel and confident working with commercial systems, records and project documentation.
  • Positive attitude to learning and development, including working towards professional membership such as RICS or CIOB where applicable.
