Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Canterbury, Kent • £30,000 - £40,000 + Package • Main Contractor | New Build Projects | Career Progression

The Role

You will work alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers on multiple live and pre‑construction schemes, gaining hands‑on exposure to all stages of the commercial process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assisting in the preparation of budgets, cost plans and tender submissions
  • Helping to procure and manage subcontractor packages
  • Supporting the valuation and variation process
  • Maintaining accurate project cost records and reports
  • Attending site meetings and liaising with site teams
  • Ensuring commercial processes and procedures are followed
Ideal Candidate
  • 1-3 years' experience in a Quantity Surveying or commercial construction role
  • Experience with a Tier 1 or reputable regional main contractor preferred
  • Strong understanding of construction processes and contracts (e.g. JCT)
  • Relevant degree or working towards qualification (e.g. Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management)
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in a fast‑paced construction environment
