Qualifications

  • 1-3 years' experience in a similar role, ideally within social housing, repairs, or planned maintenance.
  • Strong numerical and communication skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel locally.

Job Title: Assistant Quantity Surveyor - Social Housing
Location: Peterborough
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent

About the Role

We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established contractor specialising in social housing refurbishment and maintenance. Based in Peterborough, you will be supporting the commercial team on a portfolio of planned, retrofit and reactive maintenance works, working with local authorities and housing associations.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious QS with some industry experience looking to further their career within a highly supportive and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the commercial delivery of planned and cyclical works within the social housing sector
  • Support in preparing, submitting, and managing interim valuations and final accounts
  • Assist with cost control, subcontractor payments, and financial reporting
  • Conduct site visits to measure and assess progress, variations, and completed works
  • Help ensure projects are delivered within budget and in compliance with contract requirements
  • Liaise with operational teams, subcontractors, and client representatives to support successful project delivery
  • Assist in preparing tender documents and procurement processes as needed
Requirements
  • 1-3 years' experience in a similar role, ideally within social housing, repairs, or planned maintenance
  • Understanding of JCT/NEC contracts and schedule of rates (SOR) frameworks
  • Strong numerical and communication skills
  • Good working knowledge of Excel and quantity surveying software
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel locally
