Job summary

VolkerFitzpatrick is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our Aviation business, initially working on the Birmingham Airport project.

You will support day‑to‑day financial control, reporting and commercial performance, while assisting the lead QS with cash management, applications, certifications and payments. The role requires strong numerical ability and effective stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

• Currently undertaking an accredited course by RICS, CIOB, or ICES; or a relevant degree in building/construction.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and commercial reporting.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day‑to‑day financial control, reporting, and commercial performance management of the contract.
• Support the lead Quantity Surveyor with cash management, including timely application, certification, invoicing, and payment.
• Carefully administer subcontractor accounts.

Qualifications

• Currently undertaking an accredited course by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), or the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (ICES); or a relevant degree or HND in building/construction, urban and land studies, civil engineering or structural engineering.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and commercial reporting.
• Full UK driving licence.
