Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Join our team In Southam working on HS2 and play a pivotal role in achieving our vision of delivering brilliant infrastructure solutions whilst developing your career in quantity surveying within a supportive and professional environment. As part of our team, you will assist in managing commercial responsibilities to maximise profit and control costs.

Here are some of the activities you will be involved with

  • Producing weekly and monthly cost-value reconciliations.
  • Capturing and allocating costs and liabilities.
  • Maintaining strong, long-term relationships with internal and external teams.
  • Managing opportunities and risks, identifying deviations from working practices.
  • Assisting in the development of commercial tenders, offers, and contracts.
  • Identifying and escalating inappropriate costs.
  • Recording and tracking insurance claims.
  • Maintaining accurate contract data and records.
  • Capturing and reporting direct labour payments; drafting and awarding sub-contracts.
  • Share best practices to drive continuous improvement.

We would love to hear from you if

You have a relevant degree in construction or commercial management, along with experience in subcontractor management. A strong commercial awareness and a thorough understanding of NEC3 forms of contract are essential, as well as knowledge of relevant construction and contract law.

Have excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and present commercial information clearly. Strong attention to detail and advanced Excel skills are also required.

This role is ideal for someone who is eager to learn and develop their career in quantity surveying. You should be proactive in managing your workload, working collaboratively, and inspiring others to do the same.

We are looking for someone who can identify and escalation issues promptly, demonstrate resilience in the face of challenges, and take personal responsibility for resolving problems. You should be confident in positively challenging situations and providing clear commercial insights.

A full UK manual driving licence is required, as while you will be primarily based in Southam, you will also need to visit other sites, including Calvert and Aylesbury.
