Job summary

A leading engineering company in Hull is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor (QS) to work on multi-million construction projects. The ideal candidate should have a Quantity Surveying degree or relevant experience, and be proficient in Microsoft Excel. What you'll be doing?
Project Finance Control and Reporting
  • You'll deliver effective management information on commercial activity.
  • You'll produce reports for the month end commercial & financial reports. These will include supplier and subcontractor cost liabilities as well as the accruals on each project.
  • You will highlight variances from budgets on each project and identify cause & effects.
  • You'll ensure cash management is monitored and controlled.
  • You'll assist with submitting monthly project performance documents, maintaining subcontractor commitment trackers and maintaining invoicing plans.
Contract Admin/Commercial Management
  • You'll prepare and issue formal written instructions to suppliers and subcontractors in line with agreed contracts.
  • You'll prepare, submit, negotiate and agree variations with client, suppliers and subcontractors.
  • You'll manage subcontractor payment processes in liaison with the accounts department.
  • You'll analyse monthly interim applications and correct issue of payment certificates to suppliers and subcontractors.
  • You'll negotiate and agree final accounts with clients, suppliers and subcontractors
Where will you be doing it?
  • Based in Hull, our client is a leading Engineering Company who work on £multi million construction projects in the Airport Industry.
What you'll need:
  • Quantity Surveying Degree qualification or 1 to 2 years' experience in industry
  • Proficient knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel
  • The willingness to learn
