A healthcare organization in Chichester is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Psychologist to support their acute psychology team. You will provide assessment and evidence-based psychological interventions to patients, working under a qualified Psychologist. Candidates should have experience in Adult Mental Health and demonstrate good audit skills. This role offers opportunities for professional development within a supportive team environment.
We're looking for people who share our values of compassion, accountability and optimism to help us provide high quality care for the patients, carers, families and communities we serve. We specialise in NHS mental health and learning disability services and we're proud to make a difference every day.
At SPFT we put people first. We'll do everything possible to help you feel respected, valued and included. You'll have opportunities to learn, grow and gain new experiences to support your career, with access to lifelong learning and professional development.
We actively promote flexible working and understand how important work life balance is, especially in healthcare. Whether it's part time hours, hybrid working or flexible start and finish times, we'll explore what works for you and the role.
We recognise that AI is becoming part of daily life and you may choose to use it to help prepare your application. We welcome innovation but ask that anything you submit reflects your own abilities, experience and voice. AI can support how you describe your skills and experience, but it should never replace your own words as we want to get to know you.
We're shaping a workplace where ideas are encouraged, technology supports you and everyone has a voice in how we improve. If that sounds like the kind of organisation you want to be part of, we'd love to hear from you.
We are seeking a confident and enthusiastic Assistant Psychologist with experience of working with adults with complex needs in a mental healthcare setting to support the acute psychology team and to enhance the psychological care of patients in the service.
You will work under the supervision of a qualified HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist to provide assessment and delivery of evidenced-based psychological interventions to individuals and groups. You will be an instrumental part of the ward team and will be involved in working closely with your interdisciplinary colleagues.
We will provide you with regular high-quality supervision from a qualified Psychologist/Psychological Therapist and the opportunity to develop skills relevant to applying for doctorate level training. We have excellent links with local training courses and a substantive in‑house CPD programme where you will have the opportunity to link in with other assistant psychologists working within the Trust.
You will need to be able to work within a busy team environment, where there is always high demand for Psychology. We are keen to improve access to psychological therapies and groups. We are looking for candidates who have prior experience of working within Adult Mental Health and we would like to hear from those who already have some experience of delivering psychological interventions on either a group or individual basis. Good audit and evaluation skills are essential, together with knowledge about the application of outcome measures and feedback tools and how they inform service change. We are also looking for someone who is well organised, able to prioritise in the event of competing demands, a good time‑keeper, and able to work using their own initiative, but knows when to ask for help.
We are aware of the need for great diversity within the psychological professions and would welcome applications from people of the global majority, often referred to as ethnic minorities in the UK. We would also encourage applications from those with lived experience either as a service user or carer of some with mental health difficulties.
Successful candidates are normally appointed to the bottom of the pay scale unless previous NHS experience in a similar role can be evidenced.
SPFT takes its responsibilities for safeguarding children, young people and adults at risk very seriously. We expect all staff and bank workers to share this commitment and complete the relevant safeguarding training for their role.
