Job description

To assist care planning and delivery for those children & young people who are referred to Mental Health Schools Teams, a new service being set up within CAMHS, following a successful bid by HPFT to be part of the Green Paper Trailblazer. The post holder will be directly involved in the setup, data collection and analysis of all outcome measures in particular, ensuring CYP-IAPT principles and practice are implemented (80% of job plan) and the delivery of psychological interventions under the clinical supervision of a qualified psychological practitioner (20% of job plan).

Responsibilities
  • To work as a member of multi-disciplinary Mental Health Schools Teams, assisting in the provision of a high quality service to students (and their carers) experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. The role requires skills in assessing, planning, organising, reviewing and assisting the Educational Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) in delivering informed processes and evidence based interventions to support the recovery of service users as agreed with supervising clinician(s). This work will be in accordance with clinical governance processes and professional standards. The post holder will utilise their skills and knowledge to assist in ensuring CYP-IAPT processes are in place including; undertaking assessments (when necessary), identifying desired outcomes and measurement of these and, where appropriate, carrying out interventions. Duties include aiding the development, delivery, and evaluation of care programmes; providing clinical interventions such as group work and psychoeducation for parents, carers, and teachers; and facilitating early intervention through social prescribing. The role emphasizes collaborative planning with agencies like schools, social services, and the voluntary sector, as well as participation in multidisciplinary teams and regular supervision. Responsibilities extend to developing and delivering psychologically-informed interventions, supporting therapeutic groups, conducting broad psychological assessments, and assisting with routine outcome measurement and data collection. The position requires adherence to Trust policies and participation in audits, evaluations, and research projects. Effective liaison with MHST leaders, practitioners, and community agencies, as well as strong links with CYPMHS quadrant teams, CCATT, and The Wellbeing Service, are essential for fostering integrated and responsive mental health care.
