Assistant Property Accountant

We are looking for an Assistant Property Accountant to join our Property Accounting team within Financial Management in Norwich. You’ll play a vital role in reporting and maintaining financial controls. You’ll produce insightful reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations. You’ll engage with structured learning and training to support your ongoing development. But it doesn’t stop there. You’ll also collaborate with finance and surveyors, building strong relationships and resolving any issues that arise. Your work will be critical to creating an industry leading Financial Management team, positioning us as a ‘Centre of Excellence’.

What this job involves
Reporting and Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting financial operations and reporting requirements, including Trial Balance & VAT reports.
  • Assisting with creation and delivery of ad hoc reporting to other internal and external stakeholders, such as surveyors and solicitors, as required.
  • Review and reconciliation of tenant and landlord direct recoveries.
  • Support others with financial operations relating to the mobilisation and demobilisation of property transactions.
  • Supporting day‑to‑day queries from clients & occupiers.
  • Perform any other accounting and administrative duties as needed in support of the property portfolio.
  • Assist Property Accountants & Senior Property Accountants in the service delivery across the team portfolio.
Maintain Financial Controls
  • Assist in the monitoring of key performance indicators on client portfolio and taking ownership for timely resolution of any issues.
  • Timely and accurate completion of various control account reconciliations & monitoring of funding levels.
  • Effectively manage risk by complying with company, accounting, and legislative procedures and controls. Identify problem areas and elevate issues promptly.
  • Performance of other controls as governed by our accredited control framework.
Engagement with Stakeholders & Wider Teams
  • Be a point of contact for specific clients for the day-to-day running of the property portfolio.
  • Liaise with and support Surveyors, JBS (JLL Business Services) finance teams and other stakeholders on the portfolio, acting on requests and providing information in a timely manner.
  • Attend internal and external meetings as required.
  • Ensure strong communication links and working relationships are established and maintained with Property Accounting management, as well as Accounts Receivable, Treasury & Control, Surveying, and other internal stakeholders.
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Strong Excel skills (including working knowledge of pivot tables, V‑Lookups, X‑Lookups and other similar formulae).
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (including Word, Power Point, Outlook, Teams etc.).
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Must be flexible and able to work under pressure, multi‑task and effectively prioritise.
  • Organised, with attention to detail and able to work to tight deadlines.
  • Able to use own initiative to resolve day‑to‑day issues.
  • AAT Level 3 qualified or equivalent, with aspirations for further studies.
  • Knowledge of Client Systems (Yardi/MRI/Horizon) would be advantageous.
