Job summary

Arup in Bristol is seeking a Risk Manager to join our project risk management team, supporting clients on major capital projects across energy, water and transport. You will work in high-performing teams, with day-to-day responsibilities as a junior risk manager and opportunities to progress in seniority.

Arup’s project risk management team has considerable experience of helping our clients understand and manage risks to which they are exposed on large capital investment projects across a variety of industry sectors, including energy (generation and distribution/ transmission), water and transport infrastructure (highways, rail and airports). We work with a variety of client types, including government agencies, local authorities, developers, investors, senior lenders, regulators, contactors and operators. We provide advice at all project lifecycle stages, making reliable contributions to feasibility studies, optioneering, business cases, design development, procurement structuring, tender evaluation, contract management and operational readiness.

You will be given a high level of responsibility from day one, which will involve working in high performing teams and delivering client facing tasks. As you progress in your role at Arup, we envisage you will develop your skills and progress in the levels of responsibility and stimulating projects you are involved with.

Covering the spectrum of programme and project risk management, you will have the opportunity to be involved in all stages of the risk management process from defining risk management processes and strategies, developing quantitative and qualitative project risk profiles, and providing recommendations to our clients on how best to manage their overall risk position.

Typical responsibilities may include:

Being the day-to-day assistant risk manager to more senior colleagues and supporting the facilitation of risk workshops and reviews. This includes supporting the development of risk management plans.

Assessing risk exposure (e.e. Capex, Schedule, revenue, and reputation) qualitatively and semi-quantitatively and quantifying CAPEX & schedule risk exposure on projects using Monte Carlo simulation.

Project risk monitoring and progress reporting, including creating dashboards and co-ordinating input to provide updates for the client.

Establishing and managing project risk control processes, the development of project gateway reports and other governance reviews.

Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant subject. A relevant Risk Management qualification such as APM Risk Management Certificate or Axelos Management of Risk is advantageous, but not essential.

Knowledge of project and/or programme risk management with the ability to apply a range of digital tools to improve day to day efficiencyincluding the use of MS365.
