Job description
Job Title: Assistant Project Leader – Hull & Outfit (Designers)
Location: Barrow-in-Furness. (Hybrid working 2 days a fortnight on site)
Salary: Circa: £47,551 (Commensurate with skills and experience)
What you’ll be doing:
  • In this role you will support the SSNA programme in delivering to schedule, cost, safety and quality
  • You will be responsible for the 3D integration of primary structures and penetrations including outputs, manufacturing data, installation drawings, part lists and BoM maturity etc
  • Supporting and leading a team of Designers who will have different levels of experience and knowledge across the Submarine business
  • Responsible for the development of members of your team in your people management hierarchy e.g. PDR's, PDP, Quality / Code of Conduct discussions and training needs etc
  • Collaborating with all stakeholder groups to solve problems and drive solutions between design requirements, spatial constraints, build and operability
  • Supporting and working closely with NXGEN to ensure toolset capability matches programme needs
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
  • Have an understanding of primary structures
  • Engineering or Designer / Draughtspersons background
  • Experience and knowledge of a CAD toolset
  • Experience of working with various stakeholder
  • Previous experience within a Structural Engineering, Structural Designer, Structural Draughtsperson Environment.
Desirable:
  • Experience working through various design stages and build i.e. Concept and Detail Design
  • Understanding of CAD modelling techniques and PLM toolsets e.g. Teamcenter
  • HNC qualifications or recognise apprenticeship
  • Experience of NX
  • Experience of Integration of penetration

The Primary Structures Integration Team:

The Primary Structures Integration Team is responsible for the design of major steel structures and associated manufacturing outputs.

As an Assistant Project Leader you will report and support your Project Leader in delivering Designer tasks / outputs in line with SSNA / NXGD programme demands such as 2D and 3D structure models in the integrated NX environment. You will also be responsible for the development and management of the structures team. Career progression is actively encouraged within the team and across the business.
