Job summary

Siltbuster Ltd, the UK’s leading wastewater treatment specialist, invites an Assistant Project Engineer to support planning, delivery, and commissioning of turnkey solutions for diverse sites across the UK. You will collaborate with Project Managers and Engineers on design, drawings, and field installations.

The role requires practical engineering understanding, familiarity with CAD/SolidWorks, and the ability to work outdoors across varying sites.

Qualifications

  • HNC or equivalent required.
  • Experience or interest in relevant industry desirable.
  • Mechanical and/or Electrical engineering principles for design and operating.
  • Understanding of ISO 14001 and 9001:2015 and Health & Safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers with planning, delivery, installation and commissioning of wastewater treatment solutions.
  • Develop design drawings and fabrication drawings from concepts to construction.
  • Produce CAD layouts and P&ID information for multiple projects.
  • Prepare design information including P&IDs, layout plants and plant specifications.
  • Support CAD data management systems and ensure quality records.

About The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Project Engineer to join our team in Siltbuster. This role assists the Project Manager and Project Engineers with the day to day planning, coordination, delivery, installation and commissioning of rental and bespoke turnkey wastewater treatment solutions.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assist Project engineers with the planning, preparation, delivery, installation and commissioning of products and equipment at company headquarters and on client sites in the UK
  • Assist for the development of design and drawings associated with products and fabrication from outline concept through to construction / assembly.
  • Responsible for working on multiple / a variety of projects liaising with a team of engineers and be expected to produce CAD (SolidWorks) layouts from design sketches and P&ID (piping and instrumentation diagram) information
  • Assist in the preparation of design information including P&IDs, layout plants, profiles outline control philosophies and plant specifications
  • Support the development of the CAD PDM (Product Data Management) / PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems for storing, sharing, and managing CAD data.
  • Adhere to quality plans for the production and issuing of drawings.
  • Maintain organised records of design files and project documentation.
  • Obtain quotations for products and services from third parties, in liaison with the Purchasing team when required or appropriate
  • Assist in the preparation of Site Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Assist in updating and maintaining the O&M manual
Qualifications Required
  • Educated to HNC standard or equivalent qualifications
  • Proven history in relevant industry experience / interest is desirable with practical outlook
  • Mechanical engineering and/or Electrical engineering principals for design, assembly and operating
  • Basic understanding of ISO 14001 and 9001:2015 standards and appropriate Health, Safety environmental legislation
  • Read and accurately interpret technical instructions, information, and drawings
  • Well organised and able to prioritise work to provide effective and efficient support to the project team
  • Use of hand tools typically used in a workshop and on-site environment
  • Able to problem solve both simple/more complex issues and identify and resolve defects
  • Knowledge of the industrial/wastewater industry is desirable
  • Ability to communicate technical and non-technical information relative to audience.
  • Must be comfortable working outdoors in all weathers and operational environments
