A leading UK university is seeking a qualified individual to teach in the English Language and Linguistics undergraduate programmes. The role requires expertise in phonetics and phonology, delivering in-person lectures and seminars, and collaborating with faculty to enhance student learning. The ideal candidate holds a PhD in Linguistics, has teaching experience at the undergraduate level, and communicates effectively. This position is rooted within a supportive educational environment in Brighton, offering a rewarding career in academia.
You will contribute to the English Language and Linguistics undergraduate programmes through convening, teaching and assessing modules. You will deliver in‑person lectures, seminars and workshops and offer weekly student hours in term time. You will collaborate with academic and professional services colleagues and support students in their learning experience. Expertise is required in phonetics and phonology with the ability and willingness to teach into other areas of linguistics. Expertise in morphology and syntax or psycholinguistics is highly desirable.
You will have a PhD in Linguistics. You will have experience of teaching at undergraduate level in the UK and a qualification in higher education teaching is preferred. You will have the communicative and interpersonal skills to support students in their learning and to work collaboratively with colleagues. You will have the necessary expertise to teach in phonetics and phonology and an active interest in a range of linguistics areas.
