Job Title: Assistant Production Supervisor

Location: Cheshire (WA8)

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 (DOE)

Hours: Monday - Friday 08:00-16:00 / 09:00-17:00hrs

Contract: Permanent

Department: Chemical Manufacturing/Processing & Operations

The Company/Role

Being a highly successful leading manufacturer of high‑performance process chemicals, our client is looking to appoint a hands‑on, motivated Assistant Production Supervisor to join their expanding team. Reporting to the Production Manager, the Assistant Production Supervisor will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our production plant. You will also act as a stand‑in Production Manager when required, ensuring operational continuity and compliance with company policies and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor production equipment to ensure continuous and efficient manufacturing of chemical products.
  • Identify and respond promptly to production and mechanical issues to minimise downtime.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and rectifying mechanical problems and liaise with external contractors for maintenance, repair, and project work.
  • Supervise contractor activities on site to ensure compliance with safety and quality requirements.
  • Manage and issue Permits to Work (PTW) for maintenance, contractor activities, and other non‑routine tasks.
  • Monitor and maintain raw materials, finished goods, and consumable inventories.
  • Work closely with the logistics and procurement teams to ensure material availability.
  • Function as stand‑in Production Supervisor during absences, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to process optimisation efforts.
Skills & Experience
  • Solid experience working within a chemical or process manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience in a Team Leader or Supervisory position.
  • Strong understanding of Permits to Work, safety systems, and contractor management.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and experience handling equipment breakdowns or maintenance coordination.
  • Previous experience working on any project work would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Problem‑solving mindset with hands‑on technical ability.
