Job summary

Persimmon plc is hiring for a Planning role in the United Kingdom to support residential site appraisals and planning submissions. You will examine planning histories, analyse policy, and consider material considerations to maintain strong relations with the Land team and protect company interests.

You will prepare and project manage various planning applications (Outline/Full/Reserved Matters) and discharge planning conditions to maintain a pipeline of new sites.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in development management/planning policy is required.
  • RTPI-accredited degree is preferred but not essential.
  • Ability to adapt to change, work accurately, efficiently and be commercially minded.

Responsibilities

  • Produce site assessments and detailed examination of planning histories.
  • Prepare and project manage Outline/Full and Reserved Matters applications.
  • Liaise with internal layout designers, external consultants and local planning authorities.
  • Prepare Planning Statements and Design & Access Statements for applications.
  • Organise stakeholder/public consultations with professionalism.
  • Monitor development plan progress and policy documents within each LA area.

Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Planning Team. This role typically reports to the Head of Planning and will have contact with consultants, local planning authorities, stakeholders and local communities.

The purpose of the role is to assist planning and development appraisals, planning submissions and other related applications within the residential sector for both immediate and strategic sites.

The role will include:

Producing site assessments, detailed examination of planning histories, policy analysis, interpretation and consideration of material considerations, and new site appraisals for immediate and strategic sites in a timely manner to meet required deadlines to maintain the relationship with the Land team and protect the interests of the company.

Prepare and project manage different types of planning applications from Outline/Full and Reserved Matters to the discharge of planning conditions accurately so that the Region can maintain new sites to develop

Liaise and brief internal layout designers, external consultants and officers at local planning authorities prior, during and post submission in order to develop strong working relationships

Prepare Planning Statements, Design & Access Statements and a range of other planning documents required to support applications accurately and on time so the business can continue to achieve the necessary planning approvals

Organise supporting information and attend required stakeholder/public consultation events with professionalism at all times to build confidence with the general public

Formulating planning strategies to promote medium and long term development sites through the plan-making process under the guidance of the Planning Manager to continue a pipeline of new sites for the region

On occasion to deputise for the Head of Planning to provide support and assistance to the team

Monitor development plan progress and associated evidence based and policy documents within each local planning authority area

What experience, qualifications and skills are we looking for?

  • Previous experience working in the private or public sector in the field of development management / planning policy
  • Degree / Masters Planning Degree with an RTPI accreditation and a rounded knowledge of town planning preferable, but not essential
  • Ability to adapt to change and to work accurately, efficiently and be commercially minded
