Job summary

Brainkind, a charity focused on improving lives of people with brain injuries, is seeking a capable manager for the Neurological Care Centre in Hitchin. The role covers leadership of a multidisciplinary team, budget oversight, and ensuring high-quality person-centered care for adults with neurological conditions.

The post requires flexibility, a level 3 Health and Social Care qualification or equivalent, and experience supervising staff while complying with CQC standards and regulatory outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Care Quality Commission regulations and outcomes.
  • Experience supervising junior staff and conducting supervisions / appraisals.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional leadership and hands-on management support to staff.
  • Line manage a group of staff (e.g., Team Leaders) in line with policy.
  • Assist in budgeting, capital and revenue monitoring for the location.
  • Coordinate staff rotas and ensure contractual requirements are met.
  • Engage with local authority, clinicians, families and stakeholders as part of MDT care.
  • Participate in on-call rota.
  • Support staff recruitment following policy.
  • Ensure supervision and personal development reviews for staff.

About us:

Stagenhoe is a Brainkind specialist neurological care centre based in Hertfordshire, caring for people aged 18 and over a range of neurological conditions. At Stagenhoe, we provide the care people need to optimise their health and wellbeing, maximise their independence and support their emotional and social needs.

Our assessment centres, rehabilitation units and hospitals use expert neurorehabilitation to support and help improve the lives of people with a neurological condition or brain injury.

MAIN PURPOSE:

  • To be a flexible member of the management team ensuring effective coordination of services within the location.
  • To assist in the management of a multidisciplinary workforce ensuring Brainkinds policies / procedures and values are adhered to with due consideration to the regulations and outcomes surrounding registered services. This may include having registered manager responsibility.
  • To ensure the care and support offered to each person is of the highest quality, meeting individual needs sensitively and striving to enable People We Support to maximise their potential.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrate professional leadership and provide hands on management support and guidance, managing staff activities and influencing their practises and attitude.
  • Assume line management responsibility for a group of staff which may include Team Leaders, as directed by the line manager in accordance with Brainkinds policies and procedures.
  • Assist and support the Service / Area Manager in setting and monitoring of budgets, capital and revenue for each area within location.
  • Support the organisation with affective staff rotas ensuring staff meet their contractual requirements and personal objectives.
  • Be prepared to meet regularly with local authority representatives, staff, clinicians, family and other stakeholders to ensure a multidisciplinary team approach to service provision. This may require working unsociable hours including evenings and weekends on occasion or where required.
  • Participate in the on call rota
  • Support Service / Area Manager in selection and recruitment of staff in accordance with Brainkind Policies and Procedure, paying particular attention to desired attitudes and values of potential team members.
  • Ensure all staff receives required supervision and personal development reviews, to promote their learning, as per Brainkind policies.
  • To ensure all People We Support have received and been involved in their assessment, support plans, person centred plans and ongoing reviews.
  • Ensure the outcomes within the Essential Standards of Quality and Safety are met thus establishing compliance to Health and Social Care Act 2008 and Care Quality Commission Regulations 2009.

ABOUT YOU:

  • QCF (NVQ) level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care or an equivalent qualification in Social Care/Health (a commitment to work towards may be considered)
  • Knowledge and understanding of what constitutes a high quality specific service and experience.
  • In depth knowledge of statutory requirements such as Care Quality Commission regulations and outcomes.
  • Experience in the management and guidance of junior staff via formal supervisions and appraisals to maintain and improve quality and morale.
  • Ability to prioritise the workload to meet specified deadlines
  • Able to demonstrate the use of initiative, problem solving skills and an ability to be flexible in approach
