Job summary

COSMO Authentic World Kitchen in Oxford is seeking an experienced Assistant Manager to oversee daily restaurant operations, support the management team, and ensure high levels of service. You will help train staff, manage inventory, scheduling, and budgeting while maintaining exceptional guest experiences.

The role requires strong leadership, excellent customer service, and the ability to work flexible hours to meet business needs.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a leadership role within restaurant/hospitality operations.
• Strong understanding of front-of-house and back-of-house operations.
• Capacity to train and develop staff while maintaining high service standards.
• Good financial sense: cost control, sales tracking and budgeting awareness.
• Proficient with POS systems and scheduling software.

Responsibilities

• Assist General Manager in daily restaurant operations to ensure efficiency.
• Oversee team performance, uphold service standards and procedures.
• Lead staff training, development and performance management.
• Manage inventory, ordering and stock control to minimise waste.
• Create staff schedules and optimise labour costs.
• Monitor food safety, sanitation and health regulations.
• Handle guest complaints professionally and promptly.
• Support day-to-day financial operations including sales tracking and budgeting.
• Ensure a safe, clean environment for staff and customers.
• Support promotions, events and marketing to drive traffic and sales.
• Assist in recruiting and onboarding new team members.
• Maintain high customer service and hospitality standards.
