Job description
Assistant Manager

The assistant manager will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the charity, ensuring that our projects are delivered efficiently and effectively, with particular responsibility for the Community Foodclub and Community Café. Reporting to the Manager you will work to lead and motivate a small team maintain high standards.

Responsibilities
  1. To assist the day-to-day running of the Centre.
  2. To manage the Foodclub and Café.
  3. To step into the Manager’s role when required, ensuring continuity of services
  4. Manage and supervise the staff and volunteer team.
  5. To be responsible for the float, card machine and cashing up.
  6. To ensure that stock is ordered, rotated and displayed correctly.
  7. To carry out stock checks monthly and stock take annually.
  8. To assist with invoicing for centre activities.
  9. To assist with bid writing and reporting.
  10. To work with the Manager on promotions and advertising.
  11. Report to the funders as required.
Requirements
  • Able to develop good working relationships with local residents while maintaining appropriate personal boundaries
  • Very good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Good record keeping and numeracy skills
  • Understanding and commitment to equal opportunities
  • Experience in writing successful funding bids
  • Ability to engage and maintain the support of colleagues in the statutory and voluntary sectors
  • Ability to work on own with support but without close supervision and within policies, procedures and guidance
