A recruitment agency is looking for an Assistant Management Accountant to join a growing business in Ipswich on a 6-month fixed-term contract. The successful candidate will assist the finance team with monthly management accounts, bank reconciliations, and various other tasks. Ideal candidates will be AAT qualified or working towards it, possess strong Excel skills, and have excellent attention to detail. This role requires a proactive approach and strong analytical skills.

Job description

MacKenzie King are recruiting an Assistant Management Accountant on a 6-Month Fixed Term Contract, for an evolving business based in Ipswich. As an Assistant Management Accountant, you will be key in assisting the wider finance team with the production of monthly management accounts and reconciliations of control accounts in a timely manner and helping to maintain business as usual. You will be responsible for a wide range of reconciliations along with assisting with monthly bank reporting, VAT returns, along with sales and margin report analysis. In addition to this there will be other ad-hoc tasks including requests from other areas of the business.

Key tasks and responsibilities
  • Weekly sales posting and reporting
  • Weekly payroll costs, journals and analysis
  • Prepare quarterly VAT returns
  • Month end preparation of fixed assets, accruals, prepayments, accrued income, deferred income, intercompany movements, interest accruals
  • Analysis of key P&L items, including overheads and staff costs
  • Maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations on work completed
  • Complete finance review of weekly expenses
  • Monthly bank reconciliations
  • Assist with month end management accounts preparation for senior management accountant review
  • Play an important role in the year-end audit
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations for submission to the bank
  • Any other ad-hoc duties as deemed to be appropriate to the role
Qualifications and experience
  • AAT qualified or working towards
  • Knowledge of accounting software packages
  • Strong Excel knowledge
  • Excellent attention to detail, with a strong focus on self-review
  • Strong numeracy, analytical and literacy skills
  • Good teamwork, problem solving and organisation skills
  • A proactive and enthusiastic approach
