Assistant Management Accountant
Hybrid - Caerphilly
£21.50 - £23.08 per hour + holiday pay
Temporary with permanent potential

Môrwell Talent Solutions are delighted to be partnering with a respected third‑sector organisation to recruit an experienced Assistant Management Accountant to join their established finance team of four.

Reporting into the Management Accountant, this is a great opportunity for an experienced individual who can hit the ground running and make an immediate impact. While initially a temporary role, the organisation is also recruiting permanently, giving the successful candidate the opportunity to apply if they wish to stay long term.

This position will have a strong fixed asset focus, supporting a £95 million capital repairs programme and a portfolio of 150 units.

The Role

As Assistant Management Accountant, you ll play an integral role within the finance team, working closely with key stakeholders and providing business partnering support to deliver customer‑focused, tailored financial reporting that aids budget management and decision‑making.

You ll also support the Management Accountant in driving a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring robust financial control and insightful analysis across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead on developing strong business partnerships with relevant departments, tailoring financial reporting to stakeholders needs.
  • Analyse and provide high-quality financial data across various projects, enabling informed decision‑making.
  • Provide high‑level assistance in year‑end processes, budget setting, and service charge preparation.
  • Prepare and process financial information accurately and on time for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work proactively to prioritise workload and meet finance deadlines.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, and recognition of profit/loss on disposals.
  • Complete balance sheet control account reconciliations, posting journals and making corrections as required.
  • Support statutory compliance for the association and its subsidiaries.
About You Essential Requirements
  • Proven experience maintaining a large, fixed asset register.
  • Experience with accruals, journals, and complex balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Strong analytical and data‑handling skills.
  • Excellent communication and business partnering ability.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new systems and processes.
Desirable:
  • Experience using Open Accounts would be highly advantageous
  • Understanding of component accounting.
  • Experience in a housing, development, or construction environment.
Qualifications
  • Part‑qualified or qualified ACCA / CIMA or qualified by experience, with strong background within a similar role
