Get Recruited Group partners with a growing business in Salford to recruit an Assistant Management Accountant / Management Accountant on a permanent basis. You will join a small finance team and support monthly management accounts, reconciliations and reporting, with hands-on transactional duties in a hybrid role.

The role requires experience with Xero, strong Excel skills, and a proactive, detail‑oriented approach. Salary £35,000–£40,000 plus benefits and study support.

Qualifications

• Experience in assistant/management accounting and monthly management accounts.
• Proficient with month-end journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations.
• Experience using Xero is essential.
• Strong Excel for financial reporting and analysis.
• AAT/CIMA/ACCA or QBE advantageous.
• Ability to work in a small finance team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and support monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, variance analysis).
• Manage month-end processes: accruals, prepayments, journal postings, reconciliations.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Produce financial reports and analyze income, expenditure, and budgets vs actuals.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and cashflow reporting activities.
• Assist with purchase ledger and sales ledger processes.

ASSISTANT MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT / MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT

SALFORD, GREATER MANCHESTER (HYBRID WORKING)

£35,000 to £40,000 + BENEFITS + STUDY SUPPORT

THE OPPORTUNITY:

We're partnering with a well-established and growing business based in Salford that is looking to recruit an Assistant Management Accountant / Management Accountant to join their finance team on a permanent basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong management accounting experience who is confident using Xero and looking for a varied, hands‑on finance role within a growing business.

Working within a small finance team, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts, financial analysis, reconciliations and reporting, whilst also taking a hands‑on approach to transactional finance activities including purchase ledger and sales ledger.

THE ASSISTANT MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT / MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT ROLE:

• Preparing and supporting monthly management accounts, including profit & loss, balance sheet and variance analysis
• Managing month-end processes, including accruals, prepayments, journal postings and reconciliations
• Completing balance sheet reconciliations, investigating discrepancies and ensuring accurate financial records
• Producing financial reports and analysing income, expenditure and performance against budgets
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting and cashflow reporting activities
• Preparing financial information and analysis to support senior management decision‑making
• Supporting purchase ledger activities, including invoice processing, supplier reconciliations and payment runs
• Assisting with sales ledger processes, ensuring income is accurately recorded and reconciled
• Maintaining accurate accounting records within Xero and ensuring transactions are correctly allocated
• Identifying opportunities to improve finance processes, reporting and internal controls
• Supporting the wider finance team with ad hoc accounting and reporting duties

THE PERSON:

• Current experience within an Assistant Management Accountant, Management Accountant, Assistant Accountant or similar role
• Strong experience preparing or supporting the production of monthly management accounts
• Confident with month‑end journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
• Experience using Xero is essential
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including financial reporting and analysis
• Experience with purchase ledger and sales ledger processes, with a willingness to support transactional finance duties
• AAT qualified, ACCA/CIMA part‑qualified or Qualified by Experience would be advantageous
• Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
• A proactive and hands‑on individual who enjoys working within a small finance team
• Confident managing competing priorities and taking ownership of accounting responsibilities
