Job summary

A leading recruitment agency in the UK is looking for an Assistant Management Accountant on a fixed-term contract. Fixed Term Contract – Assistant Management Accountant

Location: Shefford, SG17
Rate: £31,049 to £33,487 per annum

Contract length: Until end of March 2026
Hours: Full time

This role is pivotal in supporting the production of accurate, timely, and insightful management accounting information for the IBoard and senior managers. You will assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes, ensuring strong financial governance and compliance with Standing Financial Instructions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and check monthly financial monitoring reports, including contracts.
  • Support annual budget setting and provide financial advice to budget managers.
  • Analyse variances and investigate discrepancies, presenting findings clearly.
  • Assist with year-end audit working papers and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Provide training and support to budget managers and finance colleagues.
  • Validate and process invoices, including out-of-area activity, ensuring accuracy.
  • Contribute to service improvement and transformation initiatives.
What We’re Looking For
  • Previous experience in a finance or management accounts team within a large organisation; public sector experience desirable.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and IT skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication skills for both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently to tight deadlines.
