Confidential in Coventry is seeking an Assistant Management Accountant to join a growing SME. This office-based role offers hands-on involvement across the full month-end cycle, close collaboration with an experienced Financial Controller, and a chance to shape the finance function as the business grows.

You will be a proactive finance professional capable of high-quality reconciliations, variance analysis, and supporting multi‑company reporting.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly management accounts and key journals.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations across accruals, prepayments, assets and stock.
• Support P&L reviews, variance analysis and KPI reporting.
• Maintain the general ledger and postings accuracy.
• Oversee AP/AR activities and resolve queries to ensure smooth operations.
• Manage banking and cashflow tasks including daily reconciliations.
• Assist with VAT returns and wider compliance.
• Contribute to budgeting, forecasting and multi-company reporting.
• Support year-end audit preparation and respond to auditor queries.

Duties Will Include

• Support the preparation of monthly management accounts, including key journals and reconciliations
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations across accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, stock and bank
• Assist with P&L reviews, variance analysis and monthly KPI reporting
• Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring accuracy across all postings
• Oversee AP/AR activity and resolve queries to support smooth financial operations
• Manage banking and cashflow tasks, including daily reconciliations and cash reporting
• Maintain the fixed asset register and process depreciation
• Support stock accounting, reconciliations and adjustments
• Prepare and submit VAT returns and assist with wider compliance requirements
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and multi-company reporting
• Contribute to year-end audit preparation and respond to auditor queries
