Job summary

Cambridge University Hospitals seeks a dedicated Management Accountant to join our Finance team on a full-time basis. The role involves preparing reports in Word and data analysis in Excel, and supporting monthly closing processes.

Essential criteria include A-levels, GCSE maths/English, and strong MS Office skills. Desirable: Degree level and AAT/EC DL qualifications. Flexible working arrangements may be discussed.

Due to Home Office immigration rules, a full time permanent vacancy cannot be filled by individuals on a Student visa. Therefore, please be advised that if you are a Student visa holder, we will not be able to offer you a full time permanent contract unless you have:

  • applied for a Graduate visa
  • or you will have successfully completed your course and have applied for a Graduate visa before the anticipated start date of your employment

All roles in the Trust include a mandatory 12-week training period. Therefore successful candidates are expected to have the Right to Work for a period of at least 6 months from the proposed start date. Immigration and Right to Work status will be discussed with successful candidates at conditional offer. CUH will not offer sponsorship to candidates that have applied for a fee waiver.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Educated to A level standard or equivalent.
  • GCSE or equivalent in Higher Level Mathematics and English.

Desirable criteria

  • ECDL qualification or equivalent experience- able to set up spreadsheets and documents.
  • Educated to Degree level.
  • Educated to Association of Accounting Technicians Intermediate Level, or equivalent experience.
Experience

Essential criteria

  • MS Office - preparing reports in Word, and using Excel for data - being able to use different formulae.
  • Planning and prioritising your time to balance different demands and deadlines.

Desirable criteria

  • Previous experience of working in an accounting department in a management accountant role within a large organisation.
Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Understand the use and explain the purpose of accounting accruals and provisions.
  • Self motivated with a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Prepared to contribute to how the department operates.
Skills

Essential criteria

  • An ability to listen to budget holders, senior managers and to respond to questions or requests for information in a way which non-financial staff will understand and can interpret.
  • Good oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both non-finance and finance staff.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with staff at all levels within the organisation.
  • Able to carry out work with the required attention to detail in a busy financial management department.
  • Able to concentrate and focus on a range of issues particularly during the monthly reporting cycle.
  • Able to prioritise own workload.
