Job Description – Assistant Maintenance Manager

Location: Hilton East Midlands Airport Hotel, Junction 24, M1, Derby Road, Derby, DE74 2YW

What will I be doing?
  • Perform daily maintenance checks around the hotel.
  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Respond to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing emergencies.
  • Coordinate on‑site contractors.
  • Ensure good relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Maintain all hotel fixtures and fittings; take action when unsafe situations arise.
  • Manage a small team to complete tasks to the highest standards.
  • Develop, implement, and direct all emergency programs.
  • Develop and manage energy conservation programs to minimise expenses.
  • Coordinate renovation projects, define cost and scope, and oversee contractors.
  • Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Ensure health and safety of the hotel and conduct monthly safety inspections.
What are we looking for?
  • Advanced knowledge of building management/engineering.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge.
  • Knowledge of ventilation systems/HVAC, BMS, fire safety and legionella controls.
  • Experience in planning and coordinating projects.
  • Strong PC skills including PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
  • Committed to delivering high levels of customer service.
  • Flexible and able to respond to a range of work situations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and independently.
  • Previous experience in a management role.
  • Vocational training in engineering or similar field (advantageous).
  • Previous hotel industry experience (advantageous).
