National Highways is seeking an Assistant Lawyer to join our Legal Services team. Reporting to the Team Leader within the General Counsel - Legal function, you will provide pragmatic and effective legal advice across a broad range of disciplines, supporting National Highways in achieving its objectives while managing legal risk.
This role works with Lawyers and Senior Lawyers across the organisation, advising on contracts, procurement, regulatory and planning matters, and contributing to the
Qualifications
- Qualified lawyer with admission to practice and experience within legal practice.
- Experience advising on contracts, procurement, regulatory or planning law is preferred.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and ability to communicate complex legal matters clearly.
Responsabilités
- Provide clear, practical legal advice on routine matters and assist more complex queries.
- Advise on reputational risk and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements.
- Work independently as a legal expert for National Highways and support Lawyers on complex issues.
- Attend project boards and provide legal input to support decision-making.
- Contribute to reports and briefings for senior management to support business objectives.
- Ensure compliance with legislation and manage external legal providers.
