Job summary

Greencore, located at Spalding, is hiring a Laboratory Technician to support the lab’s smooth operation with essential testing and quality system compliance. Based at our Spalding site, you will work with experienced technicians to deliver accurate results and maintain laboratory integrity, contributing to nutritional analysis and allergen testing of samples.

The role requires GCSEs and a keen interest in science, with opportunities for on‑the‑job training within a UKAS accredited environment.

Qualifications

• GCSEs in Maths, English and Science (or equivalent).
• Ideally a food science-related qualification.
• Strong interest in science, food safety and laboratory work.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this busy and exciting role, you will support the smooth operation of the laboratory by performing essential testing activities, contributing to high standards within the Quality System, and working alongside experienced technicians to deliver accurate and reliable laboratory results.

At our UKAS Accredited Chemistry Laboratory based at our Spalding site we have a new vacancy for a Laboratory Technician. The Chemistry laboratory carries out a range of Nutritional analysis and Allergen testing on food samples from our local factories.

Role Accountabilities

• Carry out laboratory procedures in line with the Quality System and required standard
• Maintain an accurate and up‑to‑date personal training record
• Communicate clearly where guidance or support is needed to maintain laboratory integrity
• Work collaboratively as part of a positive, respectful laboratory team
• Uphold high standards of professional communication at all times
• Operate safely, maintaining awareness of personal and team safety
• Apply attention to detail to ensure accurate and reliable test execution
• Develop understanding of laboratory methods and build scientific capability
• Support general laboratory activities as required to maintain workflow efficiency

What We’re Looking For

• GCSEs in Maths, English and Science (or equivalent)
• Ideally a food science‑related qualification
• Strong interest in science, food safety and laboratory work
• Clear, confident communicator who works well in a team
• Organised, flexible and able to manage tasks in a fast‑paced environment
• Keen attention to detail and accuracy
• Comfortable using basic computer systems
• Curious, proactive and eager to learn new skills and techniques
