Job summary

Building Careers UK is seeking an Assistant Health & Safety Manager for construction projects in Warrington. You will help deliver the H&S strategy on site, assist with inspections, risk assessments, and safe systems of work, and promote a proactive safety culture across teams.

Qualifications

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Health & Safety, Construction Management, Environmental Management, or a related discipline.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proactive and positive attitude with a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to build effective relationships across all levels.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Full UK Driving Licence or working towards one.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of Health & Safety strategy across construction projects.
  • Assist with site inspections, audits and safety reviews.
  • Monitor compliance with legislation and company procedures.
  • Support preparation of risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
  • Assist in incident investigations and preventative actions.
  • Promote a positive health & safety culture with site teams.
  • Deliver health & safety training, toolbox talks and awareness initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate health & safety records and documentation.
  • Support pre-construction teams with planning and risk management.
  • Build strong relationships with operations, subcontractors and clients.
  • Develop knowledge of CDM Regulations and industry best practice through mentoring.

Assistant Health & Safety Manager - Construction

Location - Warrington

Salary/Package - £30,000 - £36,000 + Excellent Benefits Package

The Role
  • Supporting the implementation of the company's Health & Safety strategy across multiple construction projects
  • Assisting with site inspections, audits, and safety reviews

The Ideal Candidate
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Health & Safety, Construction Management, Environmental Management, or a related discipline
  • A genuine passion for developing a career within construction health & safety
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • A proactive and positive attitude with a willingness to learn
  • The ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the business
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
  • A full UK Driving Licence or be working towards obtaining one
Desirable
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or willingness to work towards it
  • Previous placement, internship, or site experience within construction
  • Knowledge of CDM Regulations and UK Health & Safety legislation
