Willow Grove Primary School in Wigan, Greater Manchester, is recruiting two Assistant Headteachers to join our energetic, passionate team. We seek leaders with a proven school track record in supporting pupils with behaviour that can be challenging and with experience in specialist provision.

We embrace strong attachment and trauma‑informed practices as the basis for our work and expect applicants to develop these approaches further across the school.

Qualifications

  • Experience in schools with SEMH needs and specialist provision.
  • Proven track record in supporting pupils with challenging behaviour.
  • Background in leading and developing school provision for vulnerable learners.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership as Assistant Headteacher to support SEMH pupils.
  • Develop and embed attachment and trauma‑informed practices across the school.
  • Collaborate with the Headteacher and Governors to raise attainment and wellbeing.

What skills and experience we're looking for The Headteacher and Governors at Willow Grove Primary School are looking to recruit 2 highly motivated, energetic and passionate Assistant Headteachers to join our school.

At Willow Grove, we pride ourselves on providing a nurturing environment where every child is supported to reach their full potential.

Our specialist school caters to pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH). This is a tremendous opportunity for experienced teachers and leaders with a proven record in school for supporting children with behaviour that can be challenging, or a teacher with a background in specialist provision.

Willow Grove Primary School has adopted strong attachment and trauma-informed practices (ATP) as the basis for working with its pupils and we are looking to further develop our team with staff who have knowledge in this area.
