Job description
Assistant Head of Year (Year 10)

We seek an enthusiastic, energetic and dedicated Assistant Head of Year to support the Head of Year at Lord Grey Academy. This full‑time support staff role begins as soon as possible.

Hours and Schedule

37 hours per week, 39 weeks per annum (38 term‑time weeks and 5 training days). Working times:
Monday – Thursday: 8:30am – 4:30pm
Friday: 8:30am – 4:00pm

Salary

Tove Pay Scale Band H, Point 14 – 21 FTE (£29,540 – £33,143). Pro rata salary: £25,408 per annum.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work alongside the Head of Year to develop and deliver educational plans.
  • Support students in overcoming barriers to learning and promote good attendance and behaviour.
  • Develop positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
  • Maintain professional, organised and well‑structured working practices, including ICT and administrative tasks.
  • Support the Head of Year in motivating students and upholding the school ethos.
  • Act as on‑call staff for a second role when required.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Child‑centred approach with excellent relational skills.
  • Strong organisational, ICT and administrative skills.
  • Dedicated and well‑organised; able to balance responsibilities within the school setting.
  • Higher education qualification or relevant teaching experience preferred (if applicable).
  • Successful application will require an enhanced DBS check.
