Job summary

JD Gyms in the UK is seeking a dynamic Gym Manager to lead a busy club in Bury. You will work with the General Manager to maintain high standards, grow membership and manage a team of Fitness Coaches and General Assistants.

You will ensure health and safety, uphold brand standards, hit sales and membership targets, drive local marketing, and deliver outstanding member service in a welcoming, team‑focused environment.

Qualifications

• Must have proven management experience in a leisure-related industry.
• Must be passionate about customer service and be an inspirational leader in the way they manage.
• Must be qualified to at least Level 2 Gym Instructor.
• Must have a proven track record in driving sales and coordinating local marketing activity as well as recruiting and managing a successful team.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that all policies and procedures in Health and Safety Employee Policy and Company Procedures Handbook are adhered to.
• Maintain the JD Gyms Brand Standard.
• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly safety checks and report defects to ensure the building and equipment are safe to use.
• Recruit and manage a team of Fitness Coaches and General Assistants to ensure club operations meet daily expectations.
• Hold regular team meetings to aid development and keep everyone updated.
• Work towards and achieve all sales and membership targets.
• Drive and maximise secondary spending revenue.
• Maintain the highest standard of cleanliness across the gym facility.
• Manage weekly banking to minimise wastage and variance and maximise profit.
• Ensure uniform standards are upheld by all team members.
• Deliver outstanding member service.
• Help create an environment where the team enjoy themselves at work.
• Be an ambassador of JD Gyms.

Role overview

This role requires a team player with flair and commercial ability, as well as the skill, energy and determination to help drive and develop the business alongside the General Manager. We're looking for a manager with the experience of maintaining and developing the standards and reputation, whilst nurturing a growing membership base and team.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that all policies and procedures in both the Health and Safety Employee Policy and Company Procedures Handbook are adhered to.
• Responsible for adhering to and maintaining the JD Gyms Brand Standard.
• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly safety checks. Report and chase all defects, to ensure the building and its equipment is safe to use.
• Recruit and manage a team of employed Fitness Coaches and General Assistants to ensure the club is operational cover to ensure daily expectations are delivered.
• Hold regular team meetings to aid development and keep everyone updated.
• To work towards and aim to achieve all sales and membership targets that are set.
• To drive and maximise secondary spending revenue.
• To ensure the whole of the gym facility is of the highest standard of cleanliness.
• Ensure the in-house cleaners (General Assistant) are cleaning to the highest standard. To manage the weekly banking process so that wastage and variance is minimal, maximising profit.
• To ensure uniform standards are being adhered to by all team members and yourself.
• To always deliver outstanding member service.
• To help create an environment where the team enjoy themselves whilst at work.
• To always be an ambassador of JD Gyms.
