Job summary

Aztrum, based in Exeter, is seeking an Assistant Flood Risk Consultant to join its civil and environmental team. You will work on flood risk assessments, drainage strategies and transport assessments for public and private sector clients and housing developers across the region.

You will be trained to deliver SuDS designs, hydraulic modelling, topographic assessments and AutoCAD drawings, with exposure to renewables projects and transport planning as needed.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or Geography.
• Experience with flood risk assessments and drainage strategies.
• Experience in a consultancy or local authority is preferred.
• Ability to work on AutoCAD drawings and related design tasks.

Responsibilities

• Carry out flood risk assessments and drainage planning for various sites.
• Develop topographic assessments and hydraulic modelling workstreams.
• Prepare drainage outlines and SuDS proposals for planning apps.
• Engage with clients and liaise with designers and ecologists.
• Support transport planning studies where required.
• Contribute to sustainability assessments and nutrient neutrality studies.

My Client, a market leading Civil and Environmental Engineering Consultancy, based in the heart of Exeter, is searching for an Assistant Flood Risk Consultant to join their team of Engineers.

Candidates are required to live locally and have a strong academic background in Civil Engineer or Geography and experience completing flood risk assessments, drainage strategies or transport assessments.

Experience working for a Consultancy or local Authority is also preferred.

This exciting role will offer you to the chance to join an experienced team to complete flood risk and drainage projects for public and private sector clients and housing developers across the region. With sustainability and the environment at the focus of designs, you will be trained to complete design solutions for residential and renewable energy projects spanning windfarms, solar farms and battery storage farms across the UK.

This exciting role will also offer training and support to complete the following;

• Flood Risk Assessments
• Surface water and foul water drainage strategies for sites.
• Topographic assessments.
• Hydraulic modelling and draw up in AutoCAD.
• Drainage outlines in AutoCAD to supplement planning applications
• Client engagement and liaison with Landscape Architects and Ecologists and stakeholders (after training).
• SuDS design- designing natural drainage systems.
• Nutrient Neutrality Assessments and solutions.
• Sustainability assessments.
• You will also have the chance to try various sectors including transport planning, if required.

This exciting role offers a starting salary of £27k + two professional subscriptions (CIWEM or ICE) + additional benefits including company away days, time back in lieu and hybrid working after probation. Full time office work is required initially.
